While the E.D.G.E. does not directly resemble the original runner from 1991, it does maintain its signature neoprene bootie system. In place of the usual leather cage, the laces are harnessed by more minimal suede overlays. The rubber strap wrapping the heel is also replaced by large plastic pieces that looks somewhat like a speaker system (don’t get too excited, they’re not) and tumbled leather overlays. The midsole sees a re-design as well that takes cues from its predecessor.
The first pair sports a Miami Dolphins-esque makeup inspired by the colors used on Hatfield’s original sketch of the Air Huarache. The other option borrows its colors scheme from one of the legendary designer’s more recent creations, the HyperAdapt 1.0. It features a black bootie with blue and teal overlays. “TINFL” is printed on the toe of each outsole, which stands for “There Is No Finish Line.”
